The profile is the cross-section of a wedding band and has a strong emphasis on the style of ring. The idea is, if you were to cut through the band the profile is the shape you would see. The shape can most easily be illustrated by cutting an imaginary line through the band, like on the image below. Court profile is the most traditional shape. The rounded inside and out means that it will sit comfortably as it beds into the finger.
The most common ring widths for women are between 2.0mm to 4.0mm while for men it can range from 5.0mm to 8.0mm.
1carat = 0.2gram. The measurement unit ācaratā can be traced back by historians to the mid 15th century, when seeds from the Ceratonia silique shrub (often referred to colloquially as the ācarob treeā) were used as a reference in order to measure the weight of valuable materials such as diamonds and gold. The carob tree has long green beans which contain seeds inside. These beans are almost all the same size, and this is why they were used a unit of measurement. When someone wanted to weigh a diamond or other gemstone, they placed it on a balance scale that had 5 seeds on it. If a gemstoneās weight balanced out against the carob seeds, it was considered to weigh 5 carobs, or carats.

(18K=750=75.0% pure gold). The remaining % is called alloy, and normally consists of silver, copper, palladium etc.
